This is not a war...
It's Extinction
Mini Review (Spoiler Free)
Today we went and checked out "Transformers: Age of Extinction" This is my first impressions from the film. Spoiler free of course, if you want to go pay your hard earned money to go see a film over the July 4th weekend, personally I'd stay away from Transformers 4, unless you really go crazy for the Transformers, this is nearly three hours long, and I personally Was kind of waiting for it get over, which seemed like it would never come. I really hate to give this film a bad review especially going into the July 4th weekend and spoil everyone's hopes for the fourth addition of the franchise but I have to admit I was pretty let down, especially since my expectations were so high. So, hey... lets go and do a mini review...
First thing's first, this is the first of the Transformers films that has an entirely new human cast, and along with an original story that doesn't really stem back to the others. Transformers: Age of Extinction screams, "Start of a new Trilogy" to me. Let's get to the main stuff, the new human cast, is flat and has pretty much no character development at all whatsoever. Mark Walberg does what he does, but falls face first flat along with the rest of the cast. To me, this was nearly three hours of Autobot battles, and nothing else. Halfway through the film I was begging it to be over, and yet the finale didn't come for another hour and a half. The story is convoluted at best, full of surprise that dont surprise anyone, without the original cast this film seems to have no reason to exist. The story, doesn't allow for it. So spoiler free... I hate to say this, but Transformers 4 falls flat 3 hours of action and that's about it. So, that's about it, unless you want me to go into spoilers, because really there isn't much to write home about in this film. The casting was poor, the acting was subpar, every moment Wlaberg was on screen I was waiting to laugh, because he's so good at comedy with his over serious attitude, this time it's warranted, but I just felt myself waiting to laugh. The story was original yet, disappointing, and the end shows that these films are far from over. Let's hope they do better the next time around, because this was by far the worst of the Transformer films.
Final Rating:
Skip it, wait for the Blu Ray
2 outa 5
