Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios Present: The Amazing Spider-Man 2

(Spoiler Free) Mini Review
This was movie number two on my double header movie day. I think everyone in America knew that Amazing Spider-Man 2 was released Friday May second. One of the most anticipated films of the year it would have big shoes to fill considering they set the bar very very high with "The Amazing Spider-Man" Not to mention the expectations for the film, along with how it would match up to the "Spider-Man 2" from the Toby McGuire series. No matter what they do every film will be placed up side by side against the original series. While the original series was no slouch, this reboot lived up to it's name in being "The AMAZING Spider-man" The only question is can it continue to be amazing or will it lose its magic this time around? Hey you know what? Let's give Spidy a tiny little spoiler free review....and Here...WE...GO!

The first thing I want to say here, is that they went back to the classic Spider-Man suit that was closer to the original films. I was a tad disappointed to see this because the unique costume from the first "Amazing" was one of the things that set the reboot series apart from the others. However, I quickly got past my pouting about the costume as it didnt take more than five minutes for me to forget all about it. Amazing Spider-Man 2 is filled with incredible action sequences, lots of fun humor, and secrets revealed. Now this is spoiler free so if you want to know more, head on over to your local theater and buy a ticket to see this movie. I recommend seeing it in 3D, lots of times the 3D is just used to crank out a few extra bucks and totally pointless. However, in this film the 3D really adds to the film. There are twists and turns around every corner and right when you think its over, you find out it's not, and it just keeps going and going. It was over two hours long but it never lost my attention. It's action, it's humor, it's a mystery, it's a love story. "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" lives up to its "Amazing" name in every sense of the word. While it may be hard to believe seeing as how they set the bar so high with "The Amazing Spider-Man" but the second installment completely eclipses the original. It's hard to believe but anyone who doesn't believe me head to the theater and tell me I'm wrong.
The next thing I want to do quick is compare "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" against "Spider-Man 2" Just for fun.

VS

In "Spider-Man 2" Spidy faces off against Dr. Otto Octavious (Doc Occ) with his love interest being Mary Jame. Who was his love interest throughout the course of the entire original series. The story loosely follows the Comic mini series "Spider-Man: No More" And in my personal opinion is the best in the original series. But the true question is how does it stack up against the new "Amazing" series? While I was definitely a fan of "Spider-Man 2", "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" blew my socks off. In "Amazing 2" Spidy faces off against the Electro, and a few others (but not going to mention them *Spoiler Free*) Even with the few extra villains thrown in the mix it it is nothing like the mess of a movie that "Spider-Man 3" was from the original series. One thing you dont have to worry about is there being too many villains to count in "Amazing 2". His battle with Electro is nothing short of "Amazing" while Spidy's showdown with Doc Occ in "Spider 2" is built more around Harry Osborn's vengeance against Spider-Man. "Amazing 2" has far more plot that "Spider 2" and flows brilliantly from one thing to the next. Not to mention Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man and Peter Parker is FAAAR better than Toby McGuire's. "Amazing Spider-Man 2" Wins hands down, blowing "Spider-Man 2" Out of the water.

Recommendation
Defiantly See!
First Impression Rating: 5 outa 5 stars!
